To catch up, the Syracuse Orange men's soccer squad finished the regular season 10-5-2 and earned them a No. 15 ranking. In the first round of the ACC Tournament they cruised to a 2-0 victory over the N.C. State Wolfpack, which earned them a date with the No. 5 North Carolina Tar Heels in the ACC quarterfinals.
Over the weekend, the two teams met in Chapel Hill. Tied 1-1 after 110 minutes, the two teams went to a PK shootout and the Orange prevailed 4-3.
Credit senior Noah Ryhnhart with the regulation goal for the Orange. Redshirt junior Liam Callahan scored the go-ahead penalty kick while Syracuse goalkeeper Hendrik Hilpert watched UNC's last kick sail over the goal, ensuring an Orange victory.
The big tests keep coming for the Orange who now face the No. 2 Clemson Tigers in Greenville, SC on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. They're not only looking for a shot at the ACC crown but also to avenge a 1-0 loss at SU soccer stadium during the season. If they win, they'll face either Wake Forest or Notre Dame.
