Tyshon Fogg has been a priority target for the Syracuse Orange since they began recruiting players for the 2017 Class. Fogg is a consensus four-star recruiting and on the top 300 lists of every recruiting service. He is 6'2", 225 lbs. and has offers from several top programs including Stanford, Clemson, Duke, Michigan State, North Carolina and hometown Maryland. However, according to Rival's Brynn Foley, Fogg likes what he is hearing from Syracuse's coaches.
2017 4* LB (MD) Tyshon Fogg likes what he is hearing from Syracuse, wants to visit again, per Brynn Foley (@bfoles_) https://t.co/xisP7kj9dZ

Shafer told Fogg that if he works hard, that he could earn a starting spot in the Orange linebacker corp. At least one of Syracuse's starting linebackers (Marqez Hodge) will graduate by the time Fogg would be on campus, and the other two would be eligible to leave early for the NFL Draft, should that opportunity present itself. Fogg visited Syracuse at the beginning of July and would like to visit again.
This coaching staff has not had much success, nor does it seem has dedicated much time to recruiting the "DMV" (District of Columbia, Maryland & Virginia area). A commitment from Fogg could get the staff's foot in the door in the area, leading to more opportunities to acquire talent from the region. Fogg would also be the highest rated recruit Syracuse has secured in quite some time.
