Syracuse released its depth chart ahead of its game at South Florida on Saturday. Here it is, via Cuse.com:
From the depth chart, here are five observations:
1. Emerich, Trudo staying put
Jason Emerich will start at center, while Rob Trudo will start at right guard -- the same spots each started at against LSU. On previous depth charts, Emerich was listed as Trudo's backup at center.
2. Slayton jumps Raymon
Redshirt freshman Chris Slayton has leapfrogged senior John Raymon at defensive tackle and is now listed as the starter.
3. Dungey, Philips back
Syracuse head coach Scott Shafer said in an interview with Cuse.com on Monday that quarterback Eric Dungey and hybrid back Ervin Philips are "ready to go," and the depth chart indicates that as well. Both are listed as the starter at their respective positions.
4. McFarlane still the top running back
Through four games, freshman Jordan Fredericks leads all Orange running backs in rushing attempts, rushing yards, rushing touchdowns and yards per carry. But he's still listed alongside George Morris II as a backup behind Devante McFarlane.
5. Mahoney the backup
After tossing three touchdowns in SU's 34-24 loss to LSU, Zack Mahoney is listed as Dungey's backup at quarterback -- ahead of Austin Wilson and AJ Long.
