No. 2 Syracuse Field Hockey Wins Big Over Big Red, Now 11-0

Every time I write a Syracuse Orange field hockey game recap I warn people that they need to get on the bandwagon now before there's no room left. Consider this your final warning that room is running out.

Fresh off a 5-1 victory on Friday, the No. 2 Syracuse Orange field hockey team hosted the Cornell Big Red on Sunday and practically doubled that scoring output. Six-different SU players scored as the team routed their Upstate rivals 9-1, upping their record on the season to 11-0.

After outshooting Monmouth 29-1 on Friday they went out and dominated again, outshooting Cornell 27-5. Unlike the Hawks, the Big Red were unable to repel as many of those shots. Roos Weers led the way with two goals and two assists while Emma Lamison also added two & two herself. Serra Degnan added two goals and an assist. The other goals came courtesy of Alma Fenne, Emma Tufts and Erin Gillingham.

The game was SU's biggest scoring output of the season and the most goals scored in a game since a 12-0 win over Vermont in 2011.

Weers now leads the Orange with ten goals and six assists on the year, followed by Fenne (7,6) and Russell (8,4).

The Orange now hit the road for a big test, a Friday 6 p.m. game vs. No. 9 Louisville Cardinals. If SU wins, they'll be 4-0 in ACC play and one game closer to post-season success.
