Syracuse vs. USF: Bulls Open as Five-Point Favorite Over Orange

Despite having a 3-1 record, the Orange will head to Tampa this weekend as an underdog to the 1-3 Bulls.

Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

When the Syracuse Orange take on the South Florida Bulls in Tampa this Saturday, they'll be the underdog in their first road game of the season.

Per Vegas Insiders, the line for the game has been set at -5 in favor of the team that has yet to beat an FBS squad in 2015.

SU is coming off of a bye week (victory) that followed a hard-fought 34-24 loss to the No. 7 LSU Tigers. It was Syracuse's first loss of the season but the 3-1 squad remains on track per expectations so far. Most Orange fans consider this another game SU should win on the road to bowl eligibility.

USF is coming off of a 24-17 loss to the Memphis Tigers on Friday. The Bulls jumped out to a 10-0 lead but couldn't hold off a 2nd-half push by the 5-0 Tigers. The Bulls are now 1-3 on the year with their lone win coming over Florida A&M and losses to FSU, Maryland and the Tigers. They'll look to get their first FBS win of the year and stem the losing tide as AAC play looms.

Let this line be a reminder how just how far Syracuse Football has to go in terms of repairing it's national reputation. The LSU game was a nice effort by SU but the nation has already forgotten about it and Vegas certainly wasn't that impressed. Syracuse has a lot of work left to do in the reputation department and winning games like this one are steps along the way.
