An eventful day all around for Syracuse's men's and women's cross country teams.

The Syracuse Orange are champions once again!

No, it's not football or basketball or lacrosse, but that shouldn't take away from what the impressive Orange men's cross country team has accomplished. For the fourth straight season (third in the ACC), Syracuse has taken home the ACC Championship.

SU, currently the second-ranked team in the country, placed three runners in the top five and five in the top 20 of Friday's meet. Justyn Knight finished the 8K course in 23 minutes, 24.3 seconds and finished second overall by a hair. Colin Bennie (fourth) and Martin Hehir (fifth) also rounded out the top five. Syracuse's point total on the day (46) was 39 ahead of the next-best team, NC State.

This conference championship is the sixth for the Syracuse men's team in the past seven seasons.

For the Syracuse women's team, Margo Malone finished third, but was also the only top 20 finisher. Overall, the 16th-ranked Orange amassed 141 points on the day -- good for fourth behind Virginia (71), NC State (75) and Virginia Tech (94). Last season, the Orange women's team finished eighth, so the four-spot jump is a very nice improvement for the team in just one year.
