Syracuse Football: Offensive Lineman Denzel Ward Medically Disqualified

He's the second player this season to be medically disqualified.

Syracuse redshirt freshman offensive lineman Denzel Ward has been medically disqualified due to a foot injury, SU Athletics announced Thursday night.

According to a press release, Ward has "lingering pain" in his foot because of a condition that will require surgery. Team physician Todd Battaglia made the decision to disqualify Ward from playing football or any other contact sport at Syracuse.

Ward, a Chicago native, was rated a three-star recruit out of high school and chose Syracuse over South Florida and Vanderbilt. He originally committed to Purdue before re-opening his recruitment. Ward never appeared in a game for SU.

The news of Ward's medical disqualification comes just two weeks after sophomore quarterback AJ Long was medically disqualified due to multiple concussions. Long is currently looking to transfer to another school and continue his football career.
