Syracuse has offered a preferred walk-on spot to Class of 2016 Punter Marshall Long

You cannot replace Riley Dixon; you can only hope to find another punter that can adequately fill Dixon's role as the best tool to win the field position battle in any given game.

Last year, the Syracuse Orange signed Florida recruit Sterling Hofrichter who was 6th best kicker and 9th best punter in 2015 class, according Kohl's Kicking Camp. However, Syracuse has offered a preferred walk-on spot to punter Marshall Long for the 2016 class..

Long is 6'3" and 205 lbs. and  attends South Rowan High School in China Grove, North Carolina. Long has been invited to U.S. Army All-American Bowl and has offers from Army and the Citadel. According to Scout, Long will have the opportunity to earn a scholarship by competing for the starting punter job with Hofrichter.

Long also has been receiving interest from Georgia among other schools and hopes to be offered a scholarship, as opposed to a preferred walk-on spot, to a Power 5 Conference school. Here's a look at his highlight tape:
