Syracuse Football Recruiting: Orange One of Two Schools Pursuing DB Mangram the Hardest

Georgia defensive back Martin Mangram says that Syracuse and Illinois are the two programs recruiting him the hardest.

Martin Mangram is a 5'11" three-star defensive back out of Buford High School in Georgia. His uncle Jeff Mangram played safety at Syracuse from 1985 through 1988. Mangram already visited Syracuse in June and has scheduled his official visit for the weekend of January 16th, according to Scout.

Mangram's primary recruiter from the Syracuse Orange is Defensive Back Coach Fred Reed. Mangram says that Reed indicated that there is only one spot for a cornerback in 2016 class, and that Mangram is the top target for that spot.  At his official visit, Mangram hopes to get to know the coaches better and get a better look at the campus.

The Illinois Fighting Illini is the other school who has shown the most interest in Mangram. Mangram thought that Illinois coach Bill Cubit had done a good job taking over for Tim Beckman. Other than Syracuse and Illinois, Mangram has scholarship offers from East Carolina, Army and Iowa State.

Here's a look at Mangram's senior year highlights so far:
