This week's depth chart is out, giving us our first glimpse of who will probably see the field for the Syracuse Orange as they take on the Florida State Seminoles. As is typical, these don't change much, but we do have one big adjustment entering week nine, compared to last Saturday:
Corey Winfield will be getting the start at cornerback opposite Cordell Hudson. He actually did last week too, but it wasn't indicated in advance. He'll be taking the place of Julian Whigham, who was relegated to nickel packages against Pitt. On the season, Winfield has 25 tackles (22 solo), two interceptions, two tackles for loss, three pass breakups and a forced fumble.
Though Syracuse did suffer another defeat last week, the pass defense did appear a bit improved for three quarters of the contest, and defended screens much better than they had previously. Winfield played well enough, which is why -- we assume -- he'll get the start again.
