The Syracuse Orange Olympic sports enjoyed a successful week, so we've got a loaded field of quality candidates to present to you today. After Jess Jecko's win last week, can Field Hockey make it back-to-back-to-back? Let's find out:
Alyssa Manley- Field Hockey
The Senior has a goal and assist in this weekend's sweep by the Orange. Manley earned All-American honors last Fall, and this summer won a Gold Medal as part of the US team in the Pan American games. Syracuse set a school record with their 15th consecutive win to start the season.
Eva Gordon- W. Soccer
Eva scored a goal and assist to lead Syracuse to their 1st ACC win of the season over the N.C. State Wolfpack. The sophomore has two goals on the season and will be looking to help the Orange finish the season on a strong note, with three home games remaining.
Hendrik Hilpert- M. Soccer
Hendrik posted his first career shutout against Bowling Green and then followed up by holding the #4 Clemson Tigers off the scoreboard for 89 minutes on Saturday. The freshman has started the last 5 games for the Orange, allowing just 5 goals over that period.
Monika Salkute- Volleyball
Monika helped the Orange to a 5-set victory over the Virginia Cavaliers on Sunday. She recorded 18 kills and 3 blocks in the win. For the season, Monika leads the 15-4 Orange in kills and is 3rd in blocks.
Margo Malone- W. Cross-Country
Margo was the 1st finisher for the Orange for the 3rd consecutive meet. She finished 17th at Friday's Wisconsin Adidas Invitational in a time of 20:04 for the 6k course, a time that was 20 seconds faster than what she ran in 2014. Margo will look to lead the Orange women again in two weeks at the ACC Championships.
Justyn Knight- M. Cross-Country
Justyn finished 2nd overall at the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational helping the Orange to defend their team championship. Knight's time of 23:35 for the 8k course was tops for Syracuse and the Sophomore will be one of the favorites at the ACC Championship.
Jenn Gilligan- W. Ice Hockey
The senior goalie recorded a shutout against the Providence College Friars on Sunday. Gilligan needed only10 saves the Orange won 4-0. She is now 2-2 on the season with an .891 save percentage.
