Syracuse Basketball Recruiting: Malachi Richardson Named McDonald’s All-American

He's joined by SU target Thomas Bryant in the April 1 game.

Joshua S. Kelly-USA TODAY Sports

Malachi Richardson was the fourth 2015 recruit to commit to the Syracuse Orange but now he's gotta be feeling like No. 1.

The Trenton Catholic small forward was invited to play in the McDonald's All-American game on April 1, making him the first SU recruit to receive the honor since DaJuan Coleman got the nod in 2012. Rakeem Christmas and Michael Carter-Williams were named to the squad the year prior.

All four of Syracuse's signees had been nominated. One player Syracuse is currently recruiting, Thomas Bryant, was invited to the game, so if he chooses the Orange, we'll be able to say we had two MDAAs in one year for only the fifth time ever.

Richardson is 19th in ESPN's 2015 rankings, 36th in 24/7's composite rankings, 30th in Rivals rankings and 28th in Scout's rankings. He also has some pretty amazing hair that I can't wait to make comments about.

Here's the full list of players invited to the game.
