Syracuse Football Recruiting: 3-Star DE Keivonnis Davis Flips to Oregon State

The Orange lose another three-star recruit, this time to a different orange team.

When it rains, it pours. Just after finding out that long-time target Jay Stocker had chosen Pitt over the Syracuse Orange, we found out that three-star defensive end verbal commitment Keivonnis Davis flipped to the Oregon State Beavers.

In truth, Syracuse lost Davis the day we lost George McDonald. The Miami prospect had a great relationship with the former OC and committed to the Orange after McDonald had already been demoted, which seemed like good sign at the time. A later visit appeared to seal his commitment. Apparently not.

McDonald had been wooing Davis to join him at N.C. State. Like two bickering people in a bad movie, while we were so busy trying to out-do one another, Oregon State swooped in and made an offer Davis apparently couldn't refuse. Helping matters was his relationship with OSU RB coach Telly Lockette (who had been recruiting him while at USF) and the chance to enroll early. He also said his relationship with Lockette was stronger than his relationship with McDonald and he won't be visiting NC State after all.

SU now has 25 verbal commitments in it's 2015 class and is in hot pursuit of Wisconsin commit, defensive end Jake Pickard, in the hopes of doing some flipping of their own.
