Syracuse Orange senior center Rakeem Christmas earned ACC Player of the Week honors on Monday, as he averaged 28.0 points and 9.5 rebounds in the Orange's last two games.
Christmas' week was highlighted by a career-high 35 points in the Orange's victory, 86-83, over the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on Tuesday. On Saturday, the senior was seemingly the only SU player to score in the team's loss at Clemson, as he finished with 21 points.
This is the second time this season Christmas has earned the ACC Player of the Week honor. He is the only player in the league to have won the award twice.
Christmas continues to be the most improved player in the ACC, as his season average of 18.3 ppg is 12.5 points better than last season. Currently, Christmas is leading all players in conference scoring with an average of 21.0 ppg. He is also ranked fifth in overall rebounding (9.0 per game) and second in blocked shots (2.2 per game).
