Syracuse Athletics Finishes 11th in Directors' Cup Fall Rankings

It's the best overall ranking ever for SU Athletics.

For a brief, shining moment, Syracuse Athletics was the No. 1 athletics program in the nation. Alas, we flew too close to the sun. Still, the fact that Syracuse finished 11th overall in the 2014-15 NACDA Learfield Sports Directors' Cup Fall standings is still mighty impressive.

It's the highest Syracuse has ever been ranked since the standings began in 1993 and it goes right to the top of DOCTOR Daryl Gross's resume for his time with the Syracuse Orange.

The teams that helped earn Syracuse so many points include field hockey (Final Four, NCAA Runner-Up), men's soccer (NCAA Tourney), men's cross-country (ACC champs, 5th in NCAAs) and women's cross country (NCAA Top 25). Believe it or not, football did not accrue any points this season...

Looking over the full standings, Stanford was your Fall champ (of course) while North Carolina (3rd) was the best ACC school. Florida State (6th), Virginia (9th) and Notre Dame (17th) round out the conference appearances in the Top 20. Rutgers finished 66th overall, which isn't very good.

Happy belated Christmas, DOC Gross.
