The 2014 Syracuse Orange non-conference basketball schedule is officially set in stone now that we know the two pre-MSG games in the 2K Classic will be against the Kennesaw State Owls and Hampton Pirates.
The Orange will play Kennesaw State on Nov. 14, then face Hampton on Nov. 16. Both of those games are scheduled for the Carrier Dome. Officials have not determined a game time for Kennesaw, but the Hampton game will start at 4 p.m. and will be televised by ESPNU.
The Orange have never played KSU and they're certainly not going to help our RPI out too much in this first go-round. The Owls are coming off a 6-25 campaign. However, they are returning their top four scorers so they should be improved.
Hampton, meanwhile, is a decent mid-major who we've seen in the NCAA Tournament a bunch of times over the years. The Pirates went 18-13 and played in the CBI last year. This is the first meeting between the two schools as well, which, I was kinda surprised by. I felt like they were in a Carrier Classic at some point, but, guess not.
Regardless of what happens against those two teams, the Orange will move on to the semifinals at Madison Square Garden where they will face the California Bears (don't do it...) and then either the Texas Longhorns or the Iowa Hawkeyes. Those games take place November 20 and 21.
And now, the full and final 2014-2015 basketball schedule...
