I'll be honest with you guys. The whole "Riley Dixon For Heisman" campaign may have started as something of a humorous joke.
I know. Shocking. I apologize, but stick with me.
See, Riley is a punter by definition. And punters do not win the Heisman Trophy. It's just not very likely, that is, unless that punter plays for Notre Dame, in which case they might get a sizable amount of votes over a Syracuse QB who throws for 3,000 yards. Other than that, however, it is extremely unlikely that a punter could ever win the Heisman Trophy.
I'm sorry to have to be the one to break this to you guys.
BUT...
Riley Dixon is no ordinary punter. Riley Dixon is whatever the Syracuse Orange football team needs him to be that given day. He is the hero Syracuse deserves AND the one it needs right now. He is our Dixon Knight.
Take, for instance, the Villanova game. Despite the fact that Riley was listed as punter that day, he actually ended up being the team's best quarterback...
Cut to this weekend when Syracuse was in desperate need of establishing some kind of ground attack. Once again, Riley answered the clarion call...
Imagine what Riley could have done if we'd have given him 25 touches...
All the while, let's not forget, Dixon has consistently been the best special teams player on the squad. Oh, and....
And with that Riley broke my record for longest run by a punter in SU history... Previously held by, yours truly.

I love you @RileyTDixon92 but any time you want to retire I'm cool with that.

I don't know what else you guys need to get on the #DixonForHeisman campaign bandwagon. It's real. It's happening. The Dixoning is upon us.
If you're not convinced, just wait until Riley leads Syracuse is receiving against Louisville on Friday. After that, there will be no more doubts...
