It should be no surprise that, following their loss to the Maryland Terrapins, the Syracuse Orange are headed into their game this weekend against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish as an underdog. In fact, even if they'd have won, they'd still be a decent underdog. Just how much of an underdog Syracuse is seems to be a matter of discussion.
The Orange opened as a -13 underdog on Sunday. In the immediate hours after, that number jumped to -14. As of mid-day Monday, however, the money is headed back Syracuse's way and the Orange are a "mere" eleven-point dog. Of course, there's still a lot of week left before we get to the actual game at MetLife Stadium on Saturday.
On paper, the Irish should walk away with this. They'll be playing in front of a pro-ND crowd and they're the No. 8 team in the nation. However, like I've mentioned, this is another one of those patented Who The Hell Knows Syracuse seasons and winning a game like this is exactly what SU tends to do when it's least expected to.
