Hope the Syracuse Orange football team are ready for their close-up.
The Orange will "host" the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Saturday, September 27 and when they do they'll be playing under the lights for an 8:00 p.m. ET kickoff. The game will be televised on ABC.
Both teams are currently undefeated and it's entirely possible both will remain that way headed into the Jamboroo in Jersey (tm). Syracuse will host the Maryland Terrapins in the Carrier Dome this Saturday at 12:30 p.m. ET while the 3-0 Irish get the weekend off after drubbing lowly Purdue.
Syracuse already considers the MetLife games a win for the access they bring to New York City (in theory) as well as the recruiting inroads they help build. However, the Orange are 0-2 so far in these contests and sooner or later need to put something in the win column to make the game feel like more valuable in the here and now. All the media access in the world doesn't matter if you can't win football games. The Irish will come into the game highly-ranked, possibly in the top ten, and a victory for SU could be the kind of game-changer they've been waiting for.
