The Syracuse Orange will "host" the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at MetLife Stadium on September 27. When they do, it looks like the Irish might be without a handful of players thanks to a little thing I like to call academic fraud.
Actually, that's what everyone likes to call it.
According to Fox Sports' Bruce Feldman, the four players being investigated — wide receiver DaVaris Daniels, cornerback KeiVarae Russell, defensive lineman Ishaq Williams and linebacker Kendall Moore — have been dismissed from the school. Three have been starters, and Moore was considered at least a contributor. 247 Sports noted that those four were not at practice on Friday.
You may remember Ishaq Williams as the highly-touted DL recruit who chose ND over Syracuse and Penn State.
The Irish are coming into the season as a Top 20 team and opened as a 5.5-point favorite over the Orange in their upcoming game. That line has been removed by many casinos and it might be slightly less by the time it returns.
