Cordell Hudson joins a group of players responsible for replacing starters, Keon Lyn and Ri'Shard Anderson.

Via Hudson's Twitter

Name: Cordell Hudson

Position: Cornerback

Year: Freshman

Height: 5'11"

Weight: 162

Hometown: Largo, Fla.

High School: Largo High School

2013 Stats: Hudson totaled 32 tackles and two interceptions, enough to make the Tampa Bay Times Class 6A All-State Second Team.

2014 Projections: For freshmen, cornerback is one position where playing time is available. Not only are the top players -- Brandon Reddish and Julian Whigham -- newcomers to the starting lineup, but it's a spot where backups routinely get on the field. Lower down on the depth chart is junior Wayne Morgan and a group of freshmen trying to stand out including Hudson, Juwan Dowels and Antwan Cordy.

How'd He Get Here: He had a laundry list of offers including from Boston College, Rutgers, South Florida and Wake Forest.

What'd Recruiting Sites Say: Three stars all around.

Money Quote: "Coach Shafer is a great man. One of the reasons why I committed was the person he is. I want to play for a coach like him."

Tweet of Wonder:

Ernie Davis for a freshman? Jealous.

Bonus Tweet of Wonder:

Hey-o.

What Does Shafer secondary coach Fred Reed Think of Him:

"Cordell is long, really big hands. He's not as tall as Julian but has some of the physical features Julian has in terms of really big hands, long arms, runs well. That's what I liked about him on tape. He had really good ball skills."

Interesting Nugget O'Interest: Hudson may be on his way to becoming the next Rakeem Christmas. And that's a good thing. Since Hudson's junior year of high school, he's taken classes at St. Petersburg College. He's hoping to come into college with sophomore academic standing.
