Name: Naesean Howard
Position: Strong Safety
Year: Freshman
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 188
Hometown: Syracuse, NY
High School: West Genesee High School
2013 Stats: As a senior, he led the team with 131 carries, 861 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns as a running back. For his high school career, he garnered 463 carries, 2,770 rushing yards and 58 touchdowns.
2014 Projections: It's not out of the realm of possibility that Howard sees some action this year. He's behind Darius Kelly and Ritchy Desir on the depth chart but you know how volatile the secondary is.
How'd He Get Here?: Simply put, he wanted to stay home. He wanted to stay so close to home that spurned Buffalo's offer to commit to SU.
What'd Scout/Rivals Say?: Scout - 3*, Rivals - 3*, 247 - 3*, ESPN - 3*
Money Quote: "I grew up in Syracuse and I wanted to stay in town. Growing up, I went to Syracuse games, and I always wanted to be that person on the field wearing orange and blue."
Money Quote 2: "If I had a choice, I would want to play defense. When you’re a running back, people are aiming to hit you, but on defense you’re aiming at other people. I love contact."
Links Of Wonder: Defensive backs Naesean Howard, Juwan Dowels should help Syracuse football counter spread offenses
Twitterfeed: He's not on Twitter. Didn't know you could do that.

What Does Scott Shafer Think Of Him: Enough to stick with Howard even after an arrest in 2010 stemming from an unfortunate incident. Howard says he's learned his lesson and you have to hope he stays on the straight and narrow from here on out.
Interesting Nugget O'Interest: Howard was the first player to commit to Syracuse in the Class of 2014.
Let's Get A Good Look Atcha:
