Get To Know Your Orange Man - #40, P Evan Jakubowski

COME ON! FEEL THE ILLINOISE!!!

Evan's Facebook Page

Name: Evan Jakubowski

Position: Punter

Year: Freshman

Height: 6'1"

Weight: 175

Hometown: Wheaton, Ill.

High School: Wheaton Warrenville South

2013 Stats: Averaged 42 yards per punt. He also hit two game-winning field goals last year.

2014 Projections: Syracuse already has a Ray Award candidate on the roster, so Jakubwoski isn't seeing the field unless something bad happens (please don't let anything bad happen).

How'd He Get Here: He's a preferred walk-on. Doesn't look like he received any offers from notable schools, though he also considered Missouri, Indiana and Miami (OH). Evan picked SU in part because of Newhouse (take that, Mizzou).

What'd Recruiting Sites Say: Nothing that I'm aware of.

Money Quote: That's a positive outlook, Evan:

"I think everything worked out the way it was supposed to work out."

Links Of Wonder: This is actually a pretty cool story of how Evan got to Syracuse. Tim Lester used to be a quarterback at Evan's high school, which helped get his tape in front of special teams quality control coach Chris Gould.

Twitterfeed@EvanJako, where Evan spends a ton of time musing about life and other things.

Tweets Of Wonder: I'll send you right back to his Twitter feed, where you'll find boatloads of puppy pictures.

What Does Shafer Think Of Him: Unsure... though Gould liked Evan, so that's a plus.

Interesting Nugget O'Interest: Jakubowski was a fairly accomplished baseball player in high school. Here's his recruiting profile.

Let's Get A Good Look Atcha: Punting highlights!!!
