Name: Aaron Roberts
Position: Offensive Guard
Year: Freshman
Height: 6'4"
Weight: 284
Hometown: Chicago, Ill.
High School: De La Salle Institute
2013 Stats: Made the Chicago Tribune's 2013 All-State Special Mention Team, and was All-Catholic League.
2014 Projections: We have a good deal of depth along the offensive line right now, with a bunch of entrenched starters. Roberts could redshirt, though the new depth chart shows him as the backup right guard.
How'd He Get Here: He was offered by other D-I schools like Illinois, Ball State, New Mexico and that pesky University of Syracuse. DeAndre Smith brought him into the fold for the Orange.
What'd Recruiting Sites Say: Three stars, and the 38th-best recruit in Illinois.
Money Quote: Aaron describes how he gets "mean" on the football field:
"Living in Chicago, you have to be aware of everything. So when you're on the football field, you just try to release some of your energy that maybe you shouldn't put out on the street on somebody else.
Links Of Wonder: Aaron's high school coach breaks down just how good Syracuse's new guard is and the impact he's seen him provide.
Twitterfeed: @D1_Roberts... thankfully he didn't go with a D-II team, otherwise that could get awkward.
Tweets Of Wonder: I could not agree more, Aaron...
Wu-Tang Forever.

What Does Shafer Think Of Him: According to Coach Shafer, "the only way we were going to take an offensive lineman is if we felt that they could play tackle, had some length and if we thought they could be exceptional players." So I guess Roberts fits that bill.
Interesting Nugget O'Interest: DeAndre Smith has mutual friends with Aaron's mother, which really helped make this decision that much more comfortable.
