Get To Know Your Orange Man - #40 CB Alex Schoen

Get to know walk-on corner Alex Schoen. That's why we're here, right?

Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

Name: Alex Schoen

Position: Cornerback

Year: Sophomore

Height: 5'7"

Weight:170

Hometown: Short Hills, NJ

High School: Millburn HS

2013 Stats: Schoen appeared in six games for the Orange last year in special teams duty.

2014 Projections: Probably more of the same. He's buried on the cornerback depth chart and there's more secondary recruits incoming.

How'd He Get Here?: Schoen joined the team as a walk-on receiver last year but was quickly moved to cornerback. At Millburn, he racked up 812 rushing yards and nine total touchdowns on just 91 carries for a gaudy 8.92 yards per carry. He also registered 22 total tackles and six interceptions on defense.

What'd Scout/Rivals Say?: Nothing.

Money Quote: "My favorite memories of my high school career are not winning games, scoring touchdowns or winning face-offs. It's the great times I've had and the relationships I've created with my teammates that will last a lifetime."

Links Of Wonder: If you're a Millburn High School Varsity Club Athlete of Year, you probably attend Syracuse now.

Twitterfeed:

Tweets of Wonder: Alas, his tweets are private.

What Does Scott Shafer Think Of Him: Shafer loves walk-ons, you know that.

Interesting Nugget O'Interest: Schoen is a helluva lacrosse player and there was a thought that he might end up as SU's new FOGO. However, he is not, as of yet, on the squad.
