Get To Know Your Orange Man - #6 WR Corey Cooper

This freshman wide receiver is one of the most highly regarded recruits of the incoming class. Let's get to know him.

Via Twitter

Name: Corey Cooper

Position: Wide Receiver

Year: Freshman

Height: 6'0"

Weight: 198

Hometown: Raleigh, NC

High School: Millbrook

2013 Stats: His senior season, he recorded 41 receptions for 461 yards and six touchdowns.

2014 Projections: Even though Cooper is one of the most highly regarded recruits coming in, there's a lot going on at wide receiver. In true-frosh fashion, we expect that he'll redshirt.

How'd He Get Here: There was a little stumble at first. Cooper enrolled at Syracuse in January after a semester of prep school when he failed to qualify in time for the beginning of last season. Ultimately, he chose SU over formerly-Big-East-now-ACC-rival Louisville, as well as other conference foes Miami, UNC, NC State, Pitt, and Wake Forest. There was also interest from UConn, South Carolina, Tennessee, Minnesota, and Oklahoma State. Whew!

What'd Recruiting Sites Say: Three stars from EVERYONE.

Money Quote: Found here.

I'm a quiet person. I don't know why, that's just who I am. I respect everybody. I don't have problems with nobody. Everybody likes me. I respect a whole bunch of teachers at my school. I'm just a humble guy.

...and hungry?

Links Of Wonder: This is an inspiring piece that covers almost everything about "quiet guy" Corey, including the miraculous recovery after his heart stopped for almost two minutes when he was a newborn.

Sounds great!

What Does Shafer Think Of Him: How ‘bout something from McDonald? He had this to say back in April about Cooper:

He's just another freshman battling. He put himself in a great position where he can come back in fall camp ready to compete. The biggest thing is that if he redshirts, we got him for another year. If he doesn't, he's going to be a good player. I never know when these guys are going to be ready to play. We recruit dynamic players, but you never know when it's going to be their time.

Interesting Nugget O'Interest: His senior year, he played on the East team of the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl with our very own Tyler Provo.
