Get To Know Your Orange Man - #10 LB Josh Kirkland

Let's "Get To Know..." this senior linebacker from Kansas.

Via Facebook

Name: Josh Kirkland

Position: Linebacker

Year: Junior

Height: 6'2"

Weight: 201 lbs

Hometown: Paxico, KS

High School: St. Mary's by way of Butler Community College.

2013 Stats: Kirkland registered 30 tackles, 19 of which were unassisted. Four of those tackles came in the Tulane game, where he also assisted on a sack for a one-yard loss. He injured his hand in the Georgia Tech game, and didn't get much run the last part of the season.

2014 Projections: He's all healed up, and slated to fit into the outside linebacker spot at this point. Though he's behind fellow senior, Dyshawn Davis, he'll continue to be a key piece in the rotation.

How'd He Get Here: Shafer sort of found him by accident while watching film on Butler CC, and Eric White helped find and ultimately bring Kirkland to SU.

What'd Scout/Rivals Say: Two stars all around.

Money Quote: He seems to appreciate where he is. A lot.

Every play could be my last, on and off the field. I try to embrace that.

Links Of Wonder: Kirkland has overcome quite a bit of adversity to get where he is, and The Juice Online wrote about it.

Tweets Of Wonder:

What Does Shafer Think Of Him: Just before the Rodeo Bowl, he said,

I think [Kirkland] might be the guy to try to tackle a calf. There's something about that guy that I think he could do it.

Interesting Nugget O'Interest: In high school, he was involved with Future Farmers of America. He finished first in roping contests. Probably why Shafer thought he'd be the guy to tackle a calf last year...

Let's Get A Good Look Atcha:
