Get To Know Your Orange Man - #49 LB Alryk Perry

Alryk Perry has overcome a lot to get here and started late, but he's got a chance to make an impact soon.

Name: Alryk Perry

Position: Outside Linebacker

Year: Sophomore

Height: 6'1"

Weight: 211

Hometown: Columbus, AL

High School: Glenwood School

2013 Stats: Alryk didn't play as a freshman.

2014 Projections: Alryk has some work to do to get serious PT but as of this moment, he's 2nd-in-line at one of the OLB spots behind Cam Lynch. At the very least, expect to see him get some special teams action. After that, we'll have to wait and see.

How'd He Get Here?: He chose Syracuse over West Virginia-Wesleyan, Seton Hall, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, and being a preferred walk-on at Miami.

Scout/Rivals Said: Nada.

Money Quote: "They’re looking for people who can blitz," Perry said. "They blitz a lot. I want to be the blitzer off the edge, a pass-rushing specialist. So maybe I can get in, in a third-down package when they need somebody to come off the edge and get a sack for them."

Bonus Money QuoteWe were at Fort Drum and we didn’t have any cell phone service," Perry recalled. "Everybody was trying to get to know me. They found out little about me and they like me now. They told me I was raised right and I speak correctly. They said they like me!"

Links Of Wonder: Syracuse football hopes it's found something late in linebacker Alryk Perry

Twitterfeed: There's a profile out there but it has never tweeted.

Tweets Of Wonder: Not too many people tweet about Alryk. Bummer. Something to shoot for.

What Does Shafer Think Of Him: Not sure but Perry said last year, "Coach told us that we have to know our place on the team. And I’ve found my place for this year on the scout team. I’m happy with that right now."

Interesting Nugget O'Interest: Perry has only been playing football since 8th grade and has torn the meniscus in his knee twice. But he's still here. Respect, sir.
