Get To Know Your Orange Man - #57 OG Omari Palmer

Palmer is currently listed as the starting left guard on the depth chart.

Liz Condo-USA TODAY Sports

Name: Omari Palmer

Position: Offensive Guard

Year: Junior

Height: 6'2"

Weight: 316

Hometown: Coram, N.Y.

High School: Longwood High School

2013 Stats: Palmer saw action in nine games for SU last season. He's a lineman, so, I can't really give you stats, now, can I?

2014 Projections: Omari enters the season as the starting left guard. He and Sean Hickey should form a pretty solid side of the line and Palmer is expected to pick up any slack that comes with the newbie center, be it Rob Trudo or John Miller. Of course, with a bunch of guys still learning positions and rotating around, the depth chart may change along the way.

How'd He Get Here?: Syracuse was the first to offer and Omari doesn't mess around. He committed almost immediately.

Scout/Rivals Said: Two stars across the board.

Money Quote: "I know for a fact that me and my offensive linemen are THE most important part of the offense. If we’re going to score, we have to play, we have to block. They (other positions) might get all of the glory, but in the locker room, within the team and the coaching staff, everyone knows that we are what puts points on the board – what makes the offense click."

What Does Shafer Think Of Him: Not sure about him specifically but Shafer wants to see a lot out of the line this off-season:

"I think we need more reps. I’m anxious to watch the film from today because we’ve kind of put the whole install in now. There’s really nothing new on their plate, so it’ll be telling after we watch some film."

Interesting Nugget O'Interest: Omari grew up rooting for Syracuse, so, this all works out great for everyone!
