Get To Know Your Orange Man: G #72 Ivan Foy

You know what we're doing here: counting down the football roster from 99 to 1. Today we're at 72, offensive guard Ivan Foy, our first bit of controversy here on the list.

Mark Konezny-USA TODAY Sports

Name: Ivan Foy

Position: Offensive Guard

Year: Senior

Height: 6-4

Weight: 318

Hometown: Brooklyn, NY

High School: Fort Hamilton

2013 Stats: Foy started all 13 games for the Orange at tackle. While he's listed as a guard, he's expected to be able to play both positions depending on how the rest of the roster shakes out. Oh, and he's responsible for one of the best Syracuse GIF's of all time. But about that...

2014 Projections: Foy is currently suspended. Word on the street is that academics haven't been Foy's best friend on the hill and that this was a long time coming. It will be interesting to see when the offensive lineman is reinstated. While grades at SU are still "technically" being calculated, if Foy isn't reinstated soon, we may have to wait until the end of the first summer session in June to see if he can make it back on the team.

How'd He Get Here: Same way a lot of the New York recruits did: lightly recruited by other Northeast schools like Rutgers, Penn State and Pitt.

What'd Recruiting Sites Say: Scout listed him as a three star defensive tackle while both Rivals and ESPN gave him two stars.

Money Quote: On his academic issues as a high school recruit:

"I was seeing my chances slip away and I didn't want that to happen," he said. "I had to go very hard in the classroom. People told me I had the potential to play Division I college football and I wanted to get that opportunity."

Links of Wonder: His Vine is something to behold...

Twitterfeed: You can follow him at @bigpapichulo_72

Tweets of Wonder: We all know how Sean feels about Lucy's The Orange. It appears as if Foy will have stories from the bar.

BONUS ROUND: A very agreeable thought from Mr. Foy...

What does Shafer Sean Hickey think of him? On his transition to tackle:

"He's made a smooth transition to tackle," Hickey said. "It takes a little bit to switch from inside position to outside position. That's a tough switch. You're on an island. There's times it's a lonely island. The defensive end or the linebacker is in pass-rush mode and you're on your own."

Interesting Nugget O'Interest: The whole Big Papi thing isn't that far off: he was a baseball player before committing full time to football.

Let's Get a Look Atchya: I'm a sucker for digging up old high school recruiting videos.
