Get To Know Your Orange Man: TE #80 Tyler Provo

Yay football! We're counting down all the players you'll need to know this football season as well as some you probably don't need to know. Today it's TE Tyler Provo, better known as the brother of former Syracuse TE Nick Provo.

No, this is not Tyler. He and his brother will both wear 80 for the Orange.

Name: Tyler Provo

Position: Tight End

Year: Sophomore

Height: 6-3

Weight: 238

Hometown: West Palm Beach, Florida

High School: American Heritage School

2013 Stats: Did not play in any games as a freshman.

2014 Projections: Provo is one of four listed tight ends on the roster. Aside from Josh Parish, none really stand out as a definitive number two. Provo can probably get some meaningful snaps and play special teams this year.

How'd He Get Here? I'm sure having a brother setting a bunch of Syracuse TE records helped, but he did turn down offers from BC, Pitt and had interest from Oregon and Alabama.

What Did Recruiting Sites Say? Scout and ESPN gave him a three star ranking while Rivals gave him three stars and listed him as one of the top five tight ends in his class.

Money Quote: "He's more of a guy you throw the quick bubble (screen) to, and he's going to pick up the first down. He's going to get you the five or six yards you need," said Provo's dad. Yay bubble screens!

Links of Wonder: Unlike some other players who put their highlight tapes with their cell phone numbers on YouTube, Provo has a fancy pants site that looks all cool with some of his highlights.

Twitterfeed: Yay he has a twitter! But it's protected... @ProvoTyler

Tweet of Wonder: Looks like we're just going to run with this then...

What does the coaching staff think of him? Shafer is glad to have another Provo brother around. Syracuse has a thing for family lineage in athletics, huh?

Interesting Nugget O'Interest: Provo actually was recruited to play three different positions, including H-Back or Fullback. Just in case the tank formation comes back.

Let's Get a Look Atchya: Looks like Provo has an admirer (or more likely a tech savvy friend) who put his highlights on YouTube to country music.
