No. 9 Syracuse Orange (2-2) vs. No. 20 St. John's Red Storm (2-2) GameThread

The Orange will look to stop their two-game losing streak with a victory over St. John's in Georgia.

Mark Konezny-USA TODAY Sports

Today, after two-straight losses in the ACC, the Syracuse Orange lacrosse team will do what they do best when searching for a victory…play a Big East team. The 2-2 Orange will try to right the ship when they take on the 2-2 St. John's Red Storm in the Cobb County Lacrosse Classic at Fifth Third Bank Stadium in Kennesaw, GA.

Yes, all of that was correct. Two New York schools are playing lacrosse in Georgia. Get over it.

Face-off is set for 4:00 p.m. Eastern. The game will not be televised but you can get radio coverage locally on 99.5 FM in Syracuse or through Orange All-Access.

Jim Simmons previewed the game for us on Friday.

Saturday will be John Desko's 250th game as the head coach of the Orange. Syracuse is 7-0 all-time against the Red Storm. Over the last two seasons, these two teams have played three times (in 2012 they met twice, the second time in the Big East Championship). The Orange will need this win as they will follow up the Cobb County Classic with a three game stretch featuring trips to John's Hopkins and Duke before hosting Notre Dame.

One late scratch, JUCO transfer Randy Staats will miss the game with a leg injury. Staats has nine goals and seven assists on the year so far. Derek Maltz should see some increased time in his absence.
