Rivalry3-1, Syracuse

Streak: 1, FSU

First Meeting: Billy Owens scored 25 points as Syracuse beat Florida State by 90-69 on February 4, 1990. Seems so weird now to see a non-conference basketball game played in February.

Last Meeting: A year after going to the NCAA Finals, the Orangemen saw their season end in the first round of the NIT, thanks to a 82-67 beatdown by FSU. Incidentally, this was my first full season as a Syracuse fan. It was…unfulfilling.

Head Coaches: SU: Jim Boeheim (38th Year, 946-318); FSU: Leonard Hamilton (12th Year, 237-154)

Last Year: FSU finished the season 18–16 (9–9) and lost in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament to North Carolina. Invited to the NIT, they lost in the first round to Louisiana Tech and that was that.

Last Game: The Noles kept their bubble momentum going with a 74-70 victory over Boston College on the road.

Head Coach BioHamilton began his career as an assistant coach at Austin Peay before landing a money gig as assistant at Kentucky from 1974 to 1986, where he was on staff for three Final Four squads. His first head coaching gig at Oklahoma State went so-so (56-63) but his second stint at Miami saw a lot of success. He turned an also-ran into a post-season contender, going to the NCAA Tournament in his three final seasons with the team and earning Big East COY twice. A short stint with the Washington Wizards did not work out and back to college he went in 2002 with FSU. He's taken the Noles to the post-season nine times in eleven seasons, including four NCAA appearances in a row.

"Fear Me, I've Killed Hundreds Of Timelords": FSU has a three-headed monster leading the scoring attack. Aaron Thomas (14.1), Ian Miller (13.6) and Okaro White (13.1) are the team's double-digit scorers. Miller is the most likely person to shoot the lights out from three but keep an eye on Devon Bookert as well.

If Syracuse Wins…: It will be much, much needed, which feels weird to be saying.

If Syracuse Loses…: Well, at least we can't lose any more regular season games.

How Angry Will Trevor Cooney Make Me: Fairly.

Fun Fact: Win and Syracuse clinches the No. 2 seed in the ACCT. Lose and they need Duke to beat UNC to keep it.
