Seeding: Syracuse (3), Dayton (11)

Day & Time: Saturday, March 22, 7:10 p.m. ET

Arena: First Niagara Center, Buffalo, NY

TV: TBS

Announcers: Verne Lundquist, Bill Raftery

Radio: Syracuse IMG Network

Dayton News: Mid-Major Madness

Rivalry: 1-1, Tied

Streak: 1, Dayton

Odds: -7, Syracuse

First Meeting: Jimmy Williams scored 22 and the Orangemen outpaced the Flyers in an 84-74 victory early in the 1975-1976 season.

Last Meeting: The Orangemen came into their second game of the 1977-78 season, on the road against Dayton, ranked No. 11 in the nation. They would leave with a L. The shocking 76-67 loss was followed up by eleven-consecutive wins, so at least the team didn't let it get to them too much.

Head Coaches: SU: Jim Boeheim (38th Year, 946-315); Dayton: Archie Miller (3rd Year, 61-37)

Last Year: The Flyers snapped their five-year post-season tournament streak, finishing 17-13 (7-9). The team had been to the NIT in the three previous seasons, winning the tourney in 2010.

This Year: The Flyers compiled a 23-10 (10-6) record in the Atlantic-10. They lost in the conference tourney but received an at-large bid in the NCAAs. The Flyers won nine of their last ten games in the season.

Last Game: The Flyers were the first double-digit seed to slay a high seed in the 2014 NCAA Tournament, beating the 6-seed Ohio State Buckeyes, 60-59. Vee Sanford hit the game-winner on a drive to the basket with seconds remaining.

Head Coach Bio: Archie Miller played for the NC State Wolfpack until 2002 and immediately jumped into the assistant coaching carousel. He moved from Western Kentucky to NC State to Arizona State to Ohio State to Arizona, where he worked under brother Sean Miller. He took over Dayton in 2011 and has now taken them to the post-season in two of his three seasons at the helm. Depending on how things go, he may be on the move again soon to a higher-profile program.

"Fear Me, I've Killed Hundreds Of Timelords": The Flyers are led by a four-headed scoring attack from Jordan Sibert (12.4 PPG), Devin Oliver (12.0 PPG), Dyshawn Pierre (11.1 PPG) and Vee Sanford (9.9. PPG). Sibert and Khari Price have been known to launch a three-pointer or five in a game, so keep an eye on them. The unheralded, random guy who will probably blow up for 20 points…probably Scoochie Smith (3.4 PPG).

If Syracuse Wins…: It'll be on to the Sweet Sixteen for 3rd-consecutive year and 5th time in six seasons.

If Syracuse Loses…: Some will say this where they should end up based on how the season ended but you know better.

How Angry Will Trevor Cooney Make Me: Slightly.

Fun Fact: Syracuse and Dayton were clearly destined to play this season. They were both in the Maui Invitational and came within one last-second shot of playing.

Fun Fact 2: Former Syracuse PG Allen Griffin is an assistant on Dayton. He's in business mode.
