Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment. - Buddha
Antiquities are history defaced, or some remnants of history which have casually escaped the shipwreck of time. - Francis Bacon
Once you're not in a league with somebody, it's irrelevant. - Jim Boeheim
Jim Boeheim, like time itself, is constant. He was, is and forever will be. But he only truly exists in the here and now. I know this because the future remains unknown and the past is…well, there's no such thing. Just ask Boeheim himself...
Later this week, Syracuse will participate in the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament for the first time. Syracuse left the Big East after the 2012-13 season. Does Boeheim miss the Big East?
Boeheim: No. I don't even think about that. It's not even a thought. It's not even here. It's completely gone. In sports, you can't think about stuff like that. Not at all.
Does he ever find himself watching a Georgetown-Villanova game or a Providence-Seton Hall game?
Boeheim: I watch them, but they're not meaningful. Once you're not in a league with somebody, it's irrelevant. It just doesn't matter anymore. St. Bonaventure was our biggest game of the year. I watched their scores every day to see what they were doing, but when we stopped playing them, I never even thought about them again. It's just the way it is. We're in a new league and when you're in a league, that's what you think about.'
