Call Him Our Ishmael: 3-Star WR Steve Ishmael Verbals To Syracuse

Rated three-stars across the board, the North Miami Beach WR received offers from tons of schools including BC, Illinois, Louisville, Miami, Pitt, Rutgers, Tennessee and West Virginia.

Tomorrow is National Signing Day, when all of these verbal commitments become ironclad, contract-honoring commitments. So there's no harm in waiting until then to make your decision if you're a college football recruit.

Of course, if you wanted to verbally-committ today to Syracuse Orange football, we're not going to hold that against you either.

This weekend, Eric White intimated that Syracuse received five verbal commitments from recruits. We knew about four while the fifth remained unknown. Until today. Wide receiver Steve Ishamel, a big target for SU, has given his verbal pledge to play for the team next year.

Rated three-stars across the board (ScoutRivalsESPN), the North Miami Beach WR received offers from tons of schools including BC, Illinois, Louisville, Miami, Pitt, Rutgers, Tennessee and West Virginia.

Why did he come to Syracuse? Two words: George McDonald.

Ishmael said two of the biggest reasons he committed to Syracuse was his relationship with offensive coordinator George McDonald and the fact his good friend, Hialeah QB Alin Edouard, was already committed there. Edouard and Ishmael have been friends since the 9th grade.

Okay maybe four words when you factor in Alin Edouard.

Ishmael caught 71 passes for 1,007 yards and 16 TDs last season. The 6'2", 180-speedster runs the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds.

He joins 4-star K.J. Williams, 3-star Corey Cooper, 3-star Jamal Custis and 2-star Adly Enoicy in what could go down as one of Syracuse's best wideout hauls in a very long time. Given that it was an area for concern this season, that's great news.

We'll find out everything for sure tomorrow. Stay tuned...
