Odds: -3, Syracuse

Rivalry: 5-2, Maryland

Streak: 2, Syracuse

First Meeting: Tom McMillen scored 25 points and added 16 rebounds as Maryland topped Syracuse in the 1972 NIT 2nd Round victory at Madison Square MSG.

Last Meeting: Also in the NIT 2nd Round, Jonny Flynn scored 23 points and dished out seven assists as the Orange cruised to an 88-72 victory in 2008.

School Connections: That God damned Cherry Bowl.

Head Coaches: SU: Jim Boeheim (38th Year, 945-316); Maryland: Mark Turgeon (3rd Year: 57-40)

Last Year: The Terps finished the season 25–13 (8–10) and advanced to the semifinals of the ACC Tournament where they lost to North Carolina. They were invited to the 2013 NIT where they defeated Niagara, Denver and Alabama to advance to the semifinals at Madison Square Garden, eventually losing to Iowa.

Last Game: After a tough start, the Terps righted the ship and beat Wake Forest 71-60.

Head Coach Bio: A guard at Kansas in the late 80's, Turgeon moved up the coaching ranks as an assistant at Kansas, Oregon and the 76ers before his first HC gig at Jacksonville State. After two years he moved to Wichita State, where he took the Shockers to four-straight postseasons and the 2006 Sweet Sixteen. He parlayed that into Texas A&M gig, whom he took to four NCAA Tournaments in four years. In 2011, he took over the Maryland program after Gary Williams left.

"Fear Me, I've Killed Hundreds Of Timelords": Dezmine Wells leads the Terps' offense with 14.8 PPG, just one of five players averaging double figures in scoring. Charles Mitchell is 15th in the league in rebounding with 6.5 RPG. Jake Layman (40%) and Evan Smotrycz (35%) are your most likely three-pointer culprits.

If Syracuse Wins…: They'll get off the schneid and prove they're just working some things out of their system.

If Syracuse Loses…: We might be entering a world of hurt.

Fun Fact: Maryland is going for a Gold-Out as well as hosting a Flash Mob beforehand. They're pulling out all the tricks from 2010.

Fun Fact: This is the first non-tournament meeting between the two teams. They've played in two NCAA Tournaments, two NITS, one Carrier Classic and one Maryland Invitational Tournament.
