All six of the ACC's lacrosse teams are currently ranked in the top seven of the NCAA polls. So as much as you knew ACC play was going to be a bear, but now it's about to become a reality as the No. 2 Syracuse Orange face-off in the conference for the first time, starting with the No. 5 Maryland Terrapins.
Here's what College Crosse has to say about the game...
The Terrapins have been getting a ton of production from Matt Rambo and Mike Chanenchuk, but the competition for the Terps so far this season has been . . . questionable. The Terps' trip to the Dome marks an important moment for Maryland: Can the team, buoyed by its defense and an expected advantage at the dot, get a sufficient performance from its offense to topple the Orange? This game is probably more about the Terrapins than it is about Syracuse, and how Maryland shows in a tough spot against a strong opponent could define the Terps' ceiling for 2014 as it continues to adopt an identity.
Surprisingly, it's only the second regular-season meeting between the two powerhouses since 1983. It's also the Terps' second visit to the Carrier Dome after a 12-5 Orange win in the 1983 NCAA playoffs. Maryland leads the overall series 6-5 and won the last match-up, a 6-5 OT win in the 2011 NCAA Quarters.
The game will be televised locally on TWCS and online at OAA.
