BC News: BC Interruption
Rivalry: 41-23, Syracuse
Streak: 1, Syracuse
First Meeting: You'd have thunk they'd play sooner but it wasn't until 1959 when the Eagles topped the Orangemen in Syracuse, 78-71.
Last Meeting: You're never gonna believe this but the game was closer than it had any right to be before the Orange put away the Eagles 69-59 back in January. Trevor Cooney went off for a 21-point performance. Feel free to do it again, T.
Best Meeting: January 16, 1984. Thirty years ago this Thursday. Pearl Washington, who will be honored at halftime Wednesday, did this...
School Connections: BC head football coach Steve Addazio was a Syracuse assistant in the 90's. Steve Donahue got the BC job after guiding Cornell to the Sweet Sixteen, which took place in the Carrier Dome.
Head Coaches: SU: Jim Boeheim (38th Year, 945-314); BC: Steve Donahue (4th Year, 52-71)
Last Year: In Steve Donahue's 3rd season, the Eagles were 16-17 (8-10). Their season ended with a loss to Miami in the ACC Tournament.
Last Game: Oliver Hanlen led the Eagles with 18 points while Ryan Anderson added 11 points and 11 rebounds but it wasn't enough to overcome Notre Dame in a 73-69 loss.
Head Coach Bio: Steve Donahue worked his way up the Ivy League ranks as an assistant at Penn before taking over as head coach for the Cornell Big Red. He led the Big Red to three NCAA Tournament opportunities, including a run to the Sweet Sixteen in 2010. After that, he took the BC job, leading them to the NIT in his first season. The last two have fallen short of the post-season and all signs point to his days being numbered.
"Fear Me, I've Killed Hundreds Of Timelords": Olivier Hanlan ranks third in the ACC with a 18.2 points per game average. Ryan Anderson also averages double figures in scoring (14.8 PPG) and leads the Eagles on the boards (7.1 RPG).
If Syracuse Wins…: They'll head into Cameron Indoor Stadium this weekend undefeated. Crank the hype machine all the way up.
If Syracuse Loses…: All those rumblings you've been hearing about SU being overrated and lucky are about to get a whole lot louder.
Fun Fact: SU will be wearing special throwback uniforms, though probably not the set you're hoping for.
Fun Fact 2: BC is 4-25 in road games going back to the start of the 2011-12 season.
