2013-2014 Syracuse Athletics Is Going To Be The Death Of Us All

Since November, SU Athletics has given us chest palpitations followed immediately by chest bumps.

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sport

All things considered, the 2013-2014 Syracuse Orange athletics year has been a successful one. The football team went bowling. The men's basketball team is No. 1 in the nation. Men's lacrosse is business as usual. The women's field hockey, basketball and lacrosse teams are all doing well.

But, Jesus Christ, when did we all decide that every great outcome needs to be heart-attack-inducing? Seriously, since November, there have been last-minute finishes that scare us the holy hell out of us right before sending us into uncontrollable celebration.

It started with the Boston College football game.

And then continued in the season-ending bowl victory over Minnesota...

Everything was pretty cool in basketball season but recently it's become Chest Palpatations Right Before Chest Bumps. Starting with Duke...

Continuing with Pitt…

And most recently the insanity with NC State…

And just when we thought SU lacrosse would be a safe haven allowing us to revel in victories that are well in hand by halftime, this happened…

We've still got a little over three months left before it's all over. No telling how many of us will be dead by then. Probably most of us. Good knowing you guys. It's been fun. It literally has.
