Syracuse Football: Elmhurst's Joe Adam Is New OL Coach, Per Report

Another MAC connection comes around to Scott Shafer's Syracuse staff.

Per CoachingSearch.com, Elmhurst College head coach Joe Adam is set to become the new OL coach for the Syracuse Orange, replacing Pat Perles.

Scott Shafer loves to hire guys he knows and Adam is no exception. Adam was a grad assistant at Western Michigan working for DC Shafer in 2007. After a stint at Grand Valley State, where he worked under Notre Dame's Brian Kelly, he moved on to Elmhurst. After six years with the Bluejays, five as the DC, he took over as head coach when Tim Lester left last year to become Syracuse's QB coach.

Adam was also recruiting coordinator at Elmhurst and helped build a program that won a share of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin championship (which is a thing) for the first time since 1980. Under Adam, the Elmhurst Bluejays went 4-6 in D-III play last season.

This would explain why there's a listing up for the WR Coach position and not for the OL position. Clearly, the wheels were in motion already on this. No official word yet but I'm sure it's coming soon.

Meanwhile, Pat Perles apparently left SU to take a gig in the CFL. Alrighty.
