Syracuse Orange (7-4) vs. Long Beach State 49ers (5-8) GameThread

The Orange try to get a winning streak going as the non-conference schedule winds down.

Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

The Syracuse Orange (7-4) play their next-to-last non-conference game of the season when they host the Long Beach State 49ers (5-8) in the Carrier Dome today. The game tips at 2:00 p.m. and will be televised on ESPNU/ESPN3.

Syracuse has won all three previous meetings with the 49ers, including an 84-53 romp in 2012.

The 49ers have struggled away from home and own a 0-7 road-game record. Long Beach lost the first four of the current away-game stretch with defeat at S.F. Austin (74-45), San Diego State (60-59),Texas (78-68) and St. John’s (66-49).

Senior guard Michael Caffrey has been Long Beach’s top scorer this season with 17.8 points per game. Senior guard Tyler Lamb is the other double-digit scorer at 10.3 PPG. LBSU has been more than happy to turn the ball over, averaging 14.7 turnovers per game.

The TNIAAM crew think Syracuse should win this one and get a winning streak in motion.
