Syracuse (5-3) hosts its latest non-conference opponent, the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (7-2) at the Carrier Dome today. The game tips off at 4 p.m. ET, and if you're unable to be in attendance, you can still tune in on ESPNU.
Louisiana Tech is coming off their second loss of the season, a 94-86 road loss to UL-Lafayette on Wednesday. Tech's the exact opposite of Syracuse, averaging 77.7 points per game, while failing to really crash the boards much. The last time these two teams faced off, it was an overtime thriller in the Dome. While the Bulldogs were able to force overtime on December 4, 1988, Steve Thompson and Matt Roe were still able to score 25 apiece and power the then-Orangemen to a 106-98 victory.
The Bulldogs are coached by Michael White, who has coached Louisiana Tech to a winning record in each of his three full seasons thus far. With win totals of 18, 27 and 29 games, respectively, Tech has gotten better each season under White. However, they've yet to make the NCAA Tournament, twice ending up in the NIT (2012-13 and 2013-14). Overall, White is 82-33 at Tech, with two regular season conference co-championships (one in the WAC and one in Conference USA).
This year's Bulldogs team is led by the three-headed scoring monster of Raheem Appleby, Alex Hamilton and Erik McCree. The TNIAAM staff also offered up less-than-optimistic (though not pessimistic) predictions for today's game back on Friday.
