I don't think too many people expected to see the 2014 All-ACC teams littered with Syracuse Orange players. But there's still something jarring about just how few Orange ended up getting mentioned.
The only offensive player to get noted was offensive lineman Sean Hickey, named to the 3rd-Team offense. The senior was the only Orange offensive lineman to start all-12 games and finished his career with 38 consecutive starts. An honorable mention last year, Hickey is sure to garner consideration in the upcoming NFL Draft.
On defense, senior linebacker Cameron Lynch was also named to the 3rd-Team. The team captain led the Orange with 97 tackles, 12 tackles for loss and seven sacks.
Meanwhile, Heisman hopeful Riley Dixon received an honorable mention here in the ACC for his punting prowess. The redshirt junior ranks fourth in career punting average (42.5) and sixth in total punting yards (6,462) at SU. Dixon also kicked the third-most punt yards in program history with 3,182, surpassing his own total from last year.
