The Syracuse Orange return to action Friday night when they host the Holy Cross Crusaders in the Carrier Dome at 7:00 p.m. Let's find out how everyone thinks things will pan out..

So, Holy Cross is good. The Crusaders beat Harvard a couple weeks ago and are off to a nice 3-0 start. But let’s pump the brakes a bit, shall we? They aren’t coming into the Carrier Dome and winning, even if the Orange are still figuring things out themselves. As per usual, Syracuse will struggle at times offensively, but that won’t matter all that much. I see a pretty comfortable win for the good guys.

I'm bummed that I think it's going to be this close, but Holy Cross can actually score points (79.7 per game so far) and that has to factor in here, against a Syracuse team that still struggles to put the ball in the basket. The key, as we'll see all season, will be Rakeem Christmas and Chris McCullough staying out of foul trouble and continuing to attack the paint offensively. It might get dicey for a few if the Crusaders can hit from three, but I think the Orange do what they need to do and earn another victory.

Syracuse 71 - Holy Cross 60
Holy Cross is scoring well but it hasn’t shot well from 3 so far. If the struggles from 3 continue against SU’s zone, HC could struggle overall without the ability to stretch the floor. With Christmas and McCullough, SU probably has the two best players on the floor in this one and that’s usually the difference. I expect minor improvements from the usual guys who struggle at times for SU and expect the Orange wins by a decent margin.

Holy Cross isn't your typical November pushover. Still, that win over Harvard isn't THAT impressive. It just means they're capable of hanging with a quality team. The question is really, which Syracuse team shows up? If the Orange play their good style, lean on Rak & Chris for points, while improving their defense, they should be able to weather the storm. Who knows, maybe Trevor Cooney will hit some threes as well. That's possible, right?
How bout you?
