Quarterback is a position of keen interest for the Syracuse Orange football team. While Terrel Hunt and A.J. Long will head into 2015 as the favorites, the long-term question of who the answer is remains unanswered. Perhaps, just perhaps, that answer will come from Oregon.
CuseNation.com is reporting that quarterback Eric Dungey has verbally-committed to play for the Orange in 2015. Dungey says so as well...
I'm excited to announce my commitment to Syracuse University #GoOrange
— Eric Dungey (@EricDungey) November 24, 2014
Hailing from Lake Oswego, Oregon, Dungey received a visit from offensive coordinator Tim Lester last week. Dungey made an official visit a few days later and three days after that he committed. He is 2015 commit No. 23 and the first quarterback of the class.
According to Scout, Dungey is rated three stars and has offers from plenty of Western schools like Idaho, Montana, Navy, Nevada, Colorado State, UNLV and Wyoming. According to Dan Tortora, he was also considering Yale and Harvard.
247 has him rated at three stars as did ESPN and Rivals. Three stars across the board.
CuseNation spoke to Dungey's high school offensive coordinator, who thinks the young QB will measure up in the strength department:
"Eric is 6-4," Carson said. "He’s all of 6-4. He’s 210-pounds. He’s about a 4.62 (40-time) kid with the potential to put more speed on him. He’s strong and works out in the weight room. He’ll pass every eye test that you come across.
Welcome to the fold, Eric. Just a heads up, we hope you didn't commit just because we have an Oswego, too. It's not THAT great.
