Syracuse 65 - Hampton 47 Post-Game Open Thread

The final score makes it seem like more of a blowout than it really was. Merry Rakeem, everyone.

It was a bit closer than we were expecting but the Syracuse Orange held off the pesky Hampton Pirates for a 65-47 victory. With the win, the Orange move to 2-0 as they head to New York for the 2K Classic semifinals.

The game may be remembered as the one in which we met senior Rakeem Christmas for the first time. The big man had a big day with 15 points and 16 rebounds. He did pick up four fouls as Syracuse's front court depth was tested, but, given that the Orange needed someone to step up, he did the job.

Chris McCullough added 13 points and 4 rebounds, B.J. Johnson added eight points and five rebounds and Michael Gbinije scored nine off the bench. Trevor Cooney had another one of those days, going 2-of-7 from three-point range, finishing with eight points.

Lots more recap coming, along with post-game reactions by Boeheim & Co. In the meantime, leave your thoughts below...
