Syracuse Orange (1-0) vs. Hampton Pirates (0-1) GameThread

The Orange wrap up their opening weekend with another warm-up, this time against the MEAC's Pirates.

Rich Barnes

It's still opening weekend for the 2014-2015 college basketball season and the Syracuse Orange will have two games under their belt by the time it's done. After having dispatched with Kennesaw State on Friday, the Orange return to the Dome today to take on the Hampton Pirates in their final tune-up before the 2K Classic semis in Madison Square Garden.

The Pirates (0-1) enter the game having been drubbed 90-56 by the Iowa Hawkeyes, the Pirates are on quick-turnaround for what's likely to be another beatdown. Quinton Chievous, a 6-6 guard, had 12 points and nine rebounds in the game while Dwight Meikle, a 6-8 forward, led the Pirates with 14 points. Iowa drilled three-pointers to build up their insurmountable lead...just an FYI, Trevor Cooney...

The Orange will see the return of Michael Gbinije to the lineup. Silent G missed the opener for undisclosed reasons and don't expect to hear what that violation was now that it's over with. SU fans are curious to see not only how Gibinje fits into the rotation but also how his return will affect Ron Patterson's and B.J. Johnson's PT.

And of course, the most important question of them all, is...what kind of sweater will DaJuan Coleman wear on the bench this time?

Jared has an in-depth preview of both teams headed into the game while John spoke with the folks at Mid Major Madness about the Pirates.

The game tips at 4 p.m. Eastern and will be televised on ESPNU. Leave your pre-, in- and post-game comments below.

G'ORANGE!
