The Syracuse Orange beat the Boston Terriers 2-1 on Saturday at J.S. Coyne Stadium in the first round of the NCAA Division I Field Hockey Tournament, booking a ticket to the tournament's quarterfinals.

"They played well. They were able to get a win. They did what they needed to do," head coach Ange Bradley told cuse.com.

In the win, the Orange got goals from senior Jordan Page and freshman Lieke Visser. Page's goal came on a penalty stroke in the 10th minute and gave Syracuse an early 1-0 lead.

The Orange took the 1-0 lead into halftime, and in the 49th minute, Visser scored to put SU ahead 2-0.

Junior goalie Jess Jecko, who saved five shots in the second half, finished only 66 seconds shy of a shutout. But that's when Hester van der Laan finally got Boston on the scoreboard. Still, Syracuse was able to hang on for the 2-1 win.

Syracuse now advances to tomorrow's quarterfinal at J.S. Coyne, where it will meet the winner of Penn State and Boston College. A spot in the Final Four, which the Orange last made in 2012, will also be on the line. The game is set to begin at 2:00 p.m.
