C.J. Fair and Tyler Ennis named to the mid-season watch list.
Rough news regarding the Orange's starting center, DaJuan Coleman: He's out for the season with a left leg injury that requires surgery. But this loss is hardly devastating to the Orange's title hopes, for a few reasons. The 6-foot-9 sophomore was a token starter who averaged just 13 minutes per game. Syracuse's defense has been predicated on creating turnovers, which Coleman doesn't do, and blocking shots, which Coleman does far less than the two other options at the five-spot, Rakeem Christmas and Baye Keita.
"Youth," George Bernard Shaw once lamented, "is wasted on the young." Ah, but if the famous Irish playwright had only met the likes of McNamara and Ennis, he might not have uttered those words. For youth clearly hasn’t been wasted on either of these young men. Boeheim and citizens of Orange Nation are hoping that history can repeat itself, that 11 years later, Ennis can be the wunderkind that McNamara and Anthony were and lead Syracuse to another national championship.

"I think their style is the Syracuse style. Length in the zone. Everyone is just so long. They deflect passes and then they're gone. It's the Syracuse style. They've coined the term. Long guys in that zone. And they have guys who can make plays at the other end. [Tyler] Ennis is terrific, but they're led by a senior in C.J. Fair."
He said in December that he likely will return to Syracuse for the school's pro day, typically held in March. From there, he hopes to latch on with an NFL franchise in training camp. Allen is not projected to be selected in the 2014 NFL Draft in May, according to nfldraftscout.com.
